Domestic violence, spousal abuse and child abuse charges in California are very serious, especially if you have been falsely accused or the case has been overcharged or exaggerated.
If you are convicted of domestic violence and placed on probation, California Penal Code Section 1203.097 requires that you:
- be placed on three years probation,
- that you attend and complete an anger management class once a week for one year,
- that you pay fines of approximately $1,000.
In addition, you could be required to serve time in jail or prison.
Some Southwest Riverside County judges presently issue a Criminal Protective Order against all persons accused of domestic violence. This means a total probation against owning or possessing guns or firearms. If your job or profession requires possession of a firearm, you are out of work.
