If someone is being threatened, abused, or harassed, they can apply for a protection order with the district court in Nebraska. There are 3 different types of protection orders: harassment protection order, domestic abuse protection order, and sexual assault protection order.
Which type of Nebraska protection order should I apply for?
- Domestic Abuse Protection Order: For people who have been in close relationships (relatives, spouses or former spouses, people who have lived or are living together, etc). It is granted because someone attempted, threatened, caused bodily injury, or intimidated the other person by credible threat, or engaged in sexual contact or sexual penetration without consent.
- Harassment Protection Order: Not relationship dependent. Requires a number of telephone or personal contacts that seriously terrify, threaten, or intimidate the victim and serve no legitimate purpose.
- Sexual Assault Protection Order: Not relationship dependent. It is granted because someone subjected or attempted to subject the other person to sexual contact or sexual penetration without consent.
If someone has applied to get a protection order against you, I will defend you in court to make sure that they are denied. Protection orders can carry with them serious consequences, harm your ability to find good jobs, and tarnish your reputation.
If you have suffered abuse or harassment and would like to apply for a protection order to protect yourself, I will work with you to build your case to present to the district court.

He doesn't go through the motions, he puts in the work. He communicates professionally, keeps me updated in times of uncertainty. Most importantly, Tim has been my voice when I've had none. No voice is the most isolating part, while your immediate future is on pause & the long term collateral consequences after conviction (things in life you'll never be able to do/have) rarely are recognized by the court. Tim gives extraordinary care towards convincing the court that I am a human: a daughter, a sister, a healthcare worker, an aunt, a friend, who contributes to society. This makes all the difference when I'm just another "criminal".
